On Being a Boy

Boys will be boys. It sounds trite, but it's true.

Little boys do things like pick up large birch branches

and drag them through the sand

to float them in a canal

in order to play for a bit

and be able to chase them down

and do it all over again. The gloriously simple world of boyhood.
